it's often called a once in a lifetime experience, and soon it could be seen for the second night in a row for people here in the bay area. >> i've never seen northern lights in my whole life. my cousins did. my friends did. now i can't wait for my turn right now, spectators are gathering for the rare opportunity to potentially see the northern lights. >> good evening. i'm amber lee. it could be the second night in a row that these lights are visible in bay area skies. ktvu is joey huerta is live from the chabot observatory in the oakland hills, where both astronomers and stargazers are gathered. tonight, joey. >> yeah. amber. what a night out here. the spectators have been coming in for hours now, waiting in line. there at capacity. there's a parking lot that holds 400 cars. it is full at this point. these people, eager to see this rare solar storm over the bay area. the northern lights, a stunning light show

illuminating the night sky across the country. and right here in the bay area, seen for the first time in more than two decades, just fascinates me that some things big in the universe are like, real. >> they're really up there. >> all the excitement, drawing in stargazers to the oakland hills on saturday night, you never know where it's going to pop up at, really. >> so we're just kind of lucky that we're getting such a good view of it right now. >> the chabot space and science center in oakland is tracking the aurora, the likes of which are normally found over alaska. >> we've never seen the aurora borealis before, and so i thought, hey, if i can see it from here, that would be fantastic. the magnificent view is from huge chunks of the sun blasting off into space right toward earth, catching a ride on unusually fast moving solar wind. >> it sounds like an episode of star trek. >> well, it's a it's a lot of physics. >> astronomer gerald mckeegan is monitoring the red, green and sometimes purple lights. >> what we are seeing is charged

particles in the solar wind entering our atmosphere and interacting with the oxygen in our atmosphere. >> the downside of all this potential disruptions to gps or transmission lines. experts say the naked eye might not see bright lights, but the camera on your smartphone will. it's better at picking up faint color. >> i haven't seen it. it's definitely a bucket list item, but here at the chabot observatory home of an historic 1915 telescope affectionately known as rachel, a breathtaking view is not the only thing they're hoping for. >> first of all, we like to see the excitement of the crowd. we get a lot of people coming up here and their excitement and seeing the aurora is pretty infectious, especially when it captures the imagination of children. >> there's a lot of galaxies. >> i mean, anything could be out there. >> now, astronomers are saying that that should start any minute now, here, within the hour, that light show. and they

say it should last until about 3:00 tomorrow morning. they do say we're expecting to see even brighter lights sunday night. and this might not happen for another 11 years or longer. amber. >> so that sounds pretty exciting. thank you. new at ten. we're hearing from community members following a church a fire at a church in oakland friday night. around 730 last night, firefighters were called to a fire near west and 27th in west oakland. their crews found two buildings burning, including saint andrew's missionary baptist church. firefighters were able to put out the flames, but not before parts of the church building were severely damaged, one man tells ktvu. this historic church means a lot to him and the community. >> it's sad. it's a lot of history here. like i said, i spent the first 15 years of my life here at this church and, i'm glad to see you survived. although it was a lot of damage. >> investigators say the fire started at a nearby home before spreading to the church. no injuries have been reported and

the cause of this fire is under investigation. this afternoon, a fire broke out in san jose. crews were called to a fire at a home near lake ridge and lakeport in the south part of the city. there, firefighters found a two story home burning. crews were eventually able to put outhe flames. no injuries were reported, but two people were displaced. no word yet on the cause of this fire. one person is under arrest tonight in connection with a double homicide in san lorenzo. the double fatal shooting happened st week on dermody ae. the ys deputies found two bodiesice during a welfare check on may 4th. family members o victims reached out to authorities and filed missing persons reports. when neither of them could be reached. after several days in richnd, police are investigating a triple shooting around four this afternoon. officers were called to the area of 33rd and wall detectives found three people who had been shot. police say one ofhe victims died at the scene, while the other two were

taken to the hospital. it's unclear what led to the shooting. officers say no one has been arrested, and federal prosecutors are reportedly asking a judge to sentence david depape to 40 years in prison. last november, depape was found guilty of breaking into the san francisco home of former house speaker nancy pelosi and attacking her husband, paul with a hammer. court records obtained by the san francisco chronicle show federal prosecutors believe he deserves several decades behind bars for that violent attack in october 2022. they say depape has shown no remorse for the crime, and even appears to be proud of what he did. the santa clara county sheriff's office shared these photos today from a recent drug bust on thursday, they seized over 2000 pot plants over 10 pounds of processed marijuana and two pistols. this was at a property near the san benito county line. law enforcement says four people were arrested. the sheriff's office says their covert investigations unit has been

focused on this illegal cultivation operation for months. san rafael police say they've stopped a suspected car thief around 330 this morning. officers were alerted to a stolen van downtown. detectives say they found the vehicle in the parking lot of a business, but no one was inside. police say set up a surveillance perimeter. a short while later, suspects got into the van and drove off. officers say they stopped the van and arrested the driver for auto theft. that person was then taken to marin county jail. one person died after driving their suv off of west cliff drive in santa cruz during a police chase. police say they were in pursuit of a suspect vehicle last night when it drove off the road. the suv crashed onto the rocks below and into the ocean. santa cruz police and fire crews say they tried several times to get the driver out of the vehicle, but that the driver died in the collision. their identity has not been released. california state parks is leading all further investigation. uc berkeley held its commencement

ceremony today, drawing thousands of people to the campus to celebrate. ktvu is amanda quintana explains the concerns about protest and why this commencement is particularly meaningful for this class of graduates. >> many of the students graduating from uc berkeley today did not have high school graduations because of covid, which makes today's ceremony extra special. >> this is going to be my first full graduation since middle school. i did not have a high school graduation, so it'll be nice to have like an actual ceremony. >> not just like car parade. >> it's a big day for both undergraduate and graduate students, the moment they've been working towards for years also closes in important chapter in their lives. >> it feels surreal. it's very bittersweet, a full circle moment? definitely. >> i am pretty nervous. it's a lot of jitters and energy, but i'm trying to remember that it only happens once and you just have to make the most of it. >> thousands of people gathered at cal memorial stadium to

celebrate this big milestone for uc berkeley students, with protests surrounding the israel hamas war happening in college campuses all over the country, some universities chose to cancel or limit graduation events. but uc berkeley's went on, and students are grateful. >> i think this is a very important time for like over 10,000 students. so, i mean, it's a very important ceremony, and i think it's great that we are able to have this opportunity. >> but all students we spoke to support the right to protest, saying it's part of why they love berkeley. >> pretty much every day you'll see. you'll see kids protesting. and i love that. or someone protesting. yeah. and it's i love people that are expressing their, you know, amendment right to protest peacefully and, that's kind of what berkeley is known for. you know, some graduates are wearing scarves and say this is the perfect time for a demonstrator. >> i mean, there's multiple generations of people coming in. you have families and grandparents and parents and

maybe some people are not aware of what's going on around the world. this student even designed an image of a dove holding a palestinian flag for her cap. it's supposed to represent like freedom of palestine because, you know, free palestine. and also just to raise awareness. and i think that like as i'm graduating, i'm just realizing realizing that i'm like super grateful for like, this moment in life. and i feel like i want to also just showcase people at this, just like very important occasion, like what's going on as well. >> there is still an encampment of protesters at sproul plaza, but they were peaceful. as the ceremony was underway in berkeley, amanda quintana ktvu, fox two news. the university says the day was mostly peaceful, but there was a small protest during the ceremony. >> uc berkeley released this statement, reading in part the protesters left the stadium voluntarily. no one was arrested. uc berkeley strives to celebrate the achievements of our graduates in a safe and respectful environment. while today's commencement was at

times, unfortunately disrupted, it did not prevent us from honoring the hard work and accomplishments of our students. a vigil was held today in san francisco honoring the lives of journalists killed in the war between israel and hamas. the vigil is in honor of a palestinian american journalist who was killed two years ago today by the idf while she was on assignment in the west bank. the committee to protect journalists say 97 journalists and media workers have been killed since the war began on october 7th. more deaths are currently under investigation. and to stay on top of the war in gaza, as well as the reaction here in the bay area and across the country. go to our website at ktvu.com. >> when somebody's life is being threatened, like just do something, please. neighbors are rallying behind one of their own after he's targeted with hateful messages. >> how the community is showing him support during this difficult time. and there's a new park now open on yerba buena

administrator carmen chu. panorama park is part of the revitalization that's underway at the formal naval base at yerba buena and treasure islands. the park offers 360 degree views of the bay area and has a 69 foot sculpture. it's the first work of public art commissioned by the treasure island arts program. the east bay regional parks district is celebrating its 90th birthday in style. this afternoon, the district hosted park fest at lake chabot regional park in castro valley. the free event was filled with fun, food and music. several local companies helped sponsor the event. caltrain is giving people a behind the scenes look at their new electric trains today. the rail service gave tours of these trains in san carlos. visitors were allowed to explore interiors of the cars, learn about their new features and get a glimpse of what caltrain will be like later this year. caltrain says these electric trains will help create a cleaner, greener and faster service. the state of the art

electric trains are expected to be running by the fall. on top of today's tours, guests were also given special commemorative items in honor of caltrans. 160th anniversary. >> well, the barry weather still some warm to hot temperatures out there, especially inland. but of course, the big story over the past 24 hours, the northern lights making their way into northern california and the bay area, of course, want to relive those scenes is from last night into this morning. so not tonight. but you can see from about the past 24 hours. this is from sutter creek up in amador county, also in marin county. look at all those beautiful defined colors. and just just amazing to see all this really develop and just become so apparent in the sky. this was from mendocino earlier this morning. and even up in the sonoma valley. another very pretty picture to show you. now the big question is, is are we going to have a repeat performance tonight? and things are changing around a little bit, in fact quite a bit. so yesterday at this time the indices were off the charts. and you can see that green line that was kind of hanging out down

towards southern california. so this was last night. all the areas to the north of this green line indicating that if you look up to the northern horizon, you there's a good chance you could see the northern lights and that verified nicely. now, tonight, that line has been pushed up to the north quite a bit. you can see up into oregon. so there's the chance we could have we could still see the northern lights tonight, but it just don't expect the show we had friday night and into saturday morning for this morning. now back to weather. we're showing you some 60, some 70s and some 80s out there. and also in the short term that the clouds can be a complicating factor as well. we have the low clouds pushing back into the bay. so here's your mother's day forecast. lots of cloud cover tomorrow morning. partly sunny skies into the afternoon hours. we will trim back on those temperatures. no more 90s the warmest locations around 60s. the 70s to the mid 80s satellite is picking up on some low clouds and fog right now near the coast and pushing locally back into the bay. we have cooled off into the 50 and the 60s. san francisco right now 55 concord 64 degrees and our live camera at sfo picking up on some of

that cloud cover for tonight. and the low clouds will be on the increase first thing tomorrow morning as we take this more forecast model into the afternoon hours, the clouds clear back to near the shoreline. so keeping it cool for the for the beaches. but the warmest locations inland still back up into the low to mid 80s. we could be tracking another warming trend next week and we'll have more on that with your full update in a little bit. >> thanks, mark. at least one person has been killed after powerful storms swept through tallahassee, florida, this week. a woman died after a tree reportedly fell onto her home. severe weather has been battering the south and florida's panhandle for the past week, with intense storms hitting tallahassee yesterday. at least three tornadoes came through, along with winds of 80 to 100mph. this took out several power poles, leaving half of tallahassee without power within minutes. >> it was very, very loud, winds like the classic tornado sounds that you hear people talk about, like the train sound, and then things started hitting my house.

it was like the fastest but scariest couple of minutes that i've had here. >> governor ron desantis has declared a state of emergency for dozens of counties out of state. crews are coming in to work through the weekend on clearing downed trees and power lines. more than 300 people are dead after flash floods swept through parts of afghanistan yesterday. a number of people were injured or are still missing. the un world food program says more than 1000 homes were destroyed, mostly in the northern province of baghlan. the deadly floods come on the heels of flash floods last month that left 70 people dead. officials in nevada are blaming californians for a new safety concern in their state. why, they say some criminals from the golden state are now doing business across state lines. the giants had a hot start against the reds. could they hold on to win? i'll have that story later in sports. plus, not everyone grows up in safe environments. how california is now recognizing people from disadvantage

at burnt down a house inside this home on carey avenue. >> firefighters say an electrical fire burned it down. health investigators say it caused a transformer to blow and a neighborhood outage inside. they described these scenes as a hazard. an illegal kitchen. they say, was being used by out of state street vendors to operate in the valley. >> these are photos you can smell, and it's got a line of commercial kitchen equipment. this is in a private house. dirty, filthy blood on the floor. they're renting houses now. some of the ones from california and bands, and they've got the setups, the ones that everyone's seeing right now. >> the setups larry rogers describes are massive tents often selling meat. many have been seeking new customers in las vegas after los angeles started crackdowns in tourism corridors on sunset road. a worker in this stand says a group of eight of them had just moved here from manchester county. officials showed fox five a different makeshift kitchen in a backyard fox five asked code and health investigators how many of these illegal home kitchens are out there in the valley. the answer

isn't clear, but health officials say dangers range from food contamination and improper storage. >> there's no oversight by anybody, things get missed and people get sick. >> can you explain more about the phenomenon of what we're seeing? >> the old story of the little boy with the finger in the levy, that's the phenomenon. we just can't get out there enough. >> jacqueline schultz, fox five news, local, las vegas investigators say they need coordination from other local agencies to crack down on these illegal kitchens. >> in the case of that fire in north las vegas, the homeowner was cited for an illegal operation. the san francisco zoo is conducting an internal investigation after accusations of animal welfare and safety concerns. executive officials at the zoo met with lawyers earlier this week. the sit down was scheduled after a vote of no confidence from nearly all of the zoo's union members, according to the chronicle. employees are being encouraged to contact investigators to

discuss allegations of mismanagement at the zoo. it is still unclear exactly who is being investigated and when it officially started. napa is reviving plans to build a luxury hotel at aowntown location. the napa rtereports that city oials approved a 351 room resort hotel across 11 acres in tit after years of no progress, the business would be built on the corner of fi street and the silverado trail next to the oxbow area. plan build a ritz carlton in napa were approved in 2008, but the project stalled due to economic factors. bart riders in the east bay should expect delays throughout this weekend. construction is happening in south alameda county between union city and south fremont. free busses will be provided to riders during this stretch. the green line is closed all weekend . bart says riders should expect delays between 20 to 40 minutes in the work zone. mercedes benz is pulling back from its goals of increasing electric vehicle

production due to the lack of sales. the german based company says they're going to make both gas and electric cars well into the 2030s. the adjustments come after mercedes benz reported a 30% drop in first quarter earnings. the company had previously planned to produce a carbon neutral fleet and have all of its cars electric by 2030. the company will also not meet goals for its evs and hybrids to be 50% of sales by 2025. >> the prosecutors have put all their chips on michael cohen being a persuasive, credible witness. michael cohen is being called the star witness in the hush money trial against former president trump. >> we'll explain the importance of his testimony. coming up, an artist, sean diddy combs, is asking to have a sexual assault case against him thrown out. why? he claims the suit should be dismissed. and later in our newscast, a business in oakland is burglarized. the damage the vandals left o de

to unveil their star witness next week, as fox's madeleine rivera explains the testimony of trump's former attorney michael cohen could make or break the case. >> monday could be dramatic. nothing like friday, which featured a dry day of testimony. but the witnesses, which included a lead compliance analyst for at&t, a senior analyst and executive relations at verizon and two paralegals from the manhattan district attorney's office, allowed prosecutors to introduce key evidence things like text messages and phone logs. a lot of it having to do with michael cohen. the prosecution's key witness, cohen, will detail the alleged scheme by former president trump to pay off stormy daniels and reimburse cohen for paying her so daniels story of an affair with trump

would not damage his 2016 campaign. trump denies having an affair and also falsely labeling the repayments as illegal expense to cover up their true nature. the defense will likely question cohen's credibility. cohen served time in prison after pleading guilty to tax evasion and campaign finance violations and making false statements to congress. >> the prosecutors have put all their chips on michael cohen being a persuasive, credible witness which, to say the least, is an enormous risk for the da's team. >> former white house aide madeleine westerhout also wrapped up her testimony on friday. she testified that trump was a multitasker who would sign documents without reviewing them. sometimes that could undermine the prosecution's argument that trump was aware of the $130,000 payment to cohen. the manhattan district attorney's office says they may rest their case by the end of next week. in washington matter. rivera, fox news, new jersey senator bob menendez goes on trial monday in federal court in manhattan. >> he's accused of using his

authority as chairman of the senate foreign relations committee to peddle influence with the governments of egypt and qatar. he's also suspected of accepting gifts for helping new jersey businessman john menendez has stepped down as chairman of the foreign relations panel, yet he has refused to resign from the senate. this has disappointed some of his colleagues. >> should there be a formal ethics investigation against him and should he be expelled? >> the senate has standards as to proper behavior, and senator menendez behavior has fallen way below that. >> menendez isn't ruling out testifying at the trial. jury selection begins monday, followed by opening statements. the trial could last more than two months. rapper and producer sean diddy combs, filing a motion to dismiss a decades old sexual assault lawsuit filed against him. the filing filer accuses combs and others of sex crimes against a then 17 year old as fox's claudia cowan shows us, he's denying all wrongdoing

and now wants the case thrown out. >> sean diddy combs says this latest lawsuit against him has no merit. he calls it a, quote, false and hideous claim that was filed too late under the law. his motion to dismiss was filed yesterday in new york federal court in response to a lawsuit filed in december by a woman whose name has not been disclosed. she claims that back in 2003, when she was 17 years old and a high school student in detroit, she was flown on a private jet to a recording studio in new york. she says once she got there, she was given drugs and alcohol until she was too inebriated to give consent, and was then gang raped by combs, as well as the president of his record label and a third man she didn't know. the lawsuit contains pictures of the woman sitting on combs lap on the night. she claims she was assaulted. in response, combs legal team says the lawsuit has damaged the three men's reputations, adding, quote, the

plaintiff cannot allege what day or time of year the alleged incident occurred, but miraculously remembers other salacious details despite her alleged incapacitated condition. they also say the lawsuit was filed after the state's statute of limitations ran out, but lawyers for the alleged victim fired right back, saying the motion to dismiss the case, quote, is just a desperate attempt by combs to avoid accountability. the 54 year old hip hop mogul has settled out of court with at least one of his many accusers, but he's never been formally charged and has denied any wrongdoing. it's unclear when the judge in new york will rule on this latest legal maneuver in los angeles. claudia cowan, fox news. >> this week, thousands of business, entertainment, political and thought leaders convened in los angeles for the milken institute global conference, among them california's first partner, jennifer siebel newsom, who joined our political show. the

issue is to talk tech and youth mental health. >> what would that tangibly look like in terms of if you have your phone, like, what does that look like for? >> well, i mean, i think it's being very clear on what on age appropriate design and algorithmic design that doesn't lead to further harm or causing children to go down paths that lead to more self harm. it leads to calling out harassment, cyber bullying, doxing all the things that actually harm women and people of color and marginalized communities in particular for that silence. us it means preventing girls from again being led down this path towards body dysmorphia and self shame and hatred, so but there's a lot in the design. tech can be designed for good. >> we'll have more with california's first partner this week on our political show. the

issue is it airs tomorrow morning from 630 to 7 right here on ktvu. governor newsom has declared today adverse childhood experience awareness day. today's proclamation comes after the state surgeon general launched a campaign this month to improve our understanding of how toxic stress at an early age can have long term effects on health and development. today's proclamation says california is investing in prevention and response efforts, with over 35,000 people trained to screen for these experiences. more than 1.5 million medical members have been screened for adverse childhood experiences. a woman who has the oldest us park ranger at the time of her retirement is honored by a bay area university city and, in weather, some warm to hot temperatures today. >> inland. but it looks like we're gonna cool things off as we head into your mother's day forecast and even into early next week, we will have the

for the college of letters, arts and social sciences. among those receiving degrees was 102 year old betty reid soskin. she has lived in the east bay for 90 years, and was the oldest u.s. park ranger when she retired from the rosie the riveter world war ii home front park in richmond at the age of 101. today she received an honorary doctor of humane letters from the cal state east bay. first lady jill biden today delivered the commencement address at mesa community college in arizona. she shared her experience being told by a high school guidance counselor that she wasn't college material. >> my whole life, i wanted to go to college, and now the person who was supposed to guide me there was saying that i couldn't do it. well, i got my college degree. in fact, i got three more degrees. i got two masters

and a doctorate while raising three children and going to school at night and working full time. >> doctor biden still teaches english and writing at northern virginia community college. she says community colleges are an invaluable educational resource because they meet the students where they are and they provide flexibility for those juggling work and family. a new report finds gen zers, those born between the late 1990s and 20 tens, are struggling with debt more than millennials were at their age. fox's madison alworth has the details. >> we haven't set a great example for these young americans deeper into debt. >> gen z is starting out with more credit card debt than any other generation before them. a transunion report shows. the average young american has a credit card balance of nearly $3,000. a 26% jump from a decade ago. >> they're really dealing with the issue of the rent to income

ratio. it's out of control. rent is too expensive for them, and so the thing that they've got to realize is they can't depend on credit cards, right? they're being marketed to they're seeing on social media this is the life that you should have. >> younger people with larger debt falling behind quicker on credit card payments, with some relying on their family members for help if they can't make ends meet. >> we want americans if they have debt. we want you to focus all of your extra income on that debt so you can clear it out as quickly as possible. and then when that debt is cleared, you'll also have freed up income so that you're going to actually be able to invest far more than what you were investing before. >> the report found 84% of credit active consumers between 22 and 24 years old held one or more credit cards in 2023, compared to 61% in 2013. >> credit cards simply are not the solution. at the end of the day, they want your payment. they don't want your piece. >> gen zers are also more likely to take out an auto loan than millennials were ten years ago.

a budget is not a magic trick, okay, you've got to add money to it in order for it to create the lifestyle that you want. >> and in order to make those numbers balance. and so there is a way to make this happen. and for a lot of people, it means getting extra income in order to supplement that budget. >> the report shows that debt levels across all age groups are up with credit card debt among americans topping $1 trillion last year in new york, i'm madison alworth, fox business. >> a business in oakland is recovering after being burglarized overnight. la guerrera's kitchen in downtown oakland was broken into. the burglar busted through the front window, shattering glass in and out of the business, la guerrera's owner tells ktvu. other nearby businesses were also targeted. the owner says they're still trying to determine what was stolen. it has been a wet winter in the sierra. we'll take a closer look at how all of the snow and rain is impacting water levels up at lake tahoe. here's a live look outside after the break.

says this occasion is bittersweet. this year, after more than 60 years at the current location, the business is preparing to move from sixth and brannan street to new state of the art facility at 16th and mississippi later this summer. hundreds of people gathered at union square today for the taiwanese american cultural festival. the annual event has been around since 1993. guests enjoyed lion dancing performances. there were also numerous booths to pick up taiwanese dishes and snacks while networking with local community groups like the taiwanese american professionals of san francisco. lake tahoe is expected to fill up for the first time in five years. the u.s. department of agriculture says, thanks to two consecutive wet winters, the lake is expected to be full for the first time since 2019. the water year runs through september, but researchers say it is already a safe bet to pencil in a win on this year's report card. when the lake is determined to be

full, it can provide enough water to meet demand for the next three years. >> well bay area weather temperatures off to a warm to hot start inland, but we. will be cooling things off a few degrees in your sunday forecast as we do approach mother's day, take a look at the temperatures from today. the top row and just some slight cooling for tomorrow. you can see santa rosa barely noticeable down 1 degrees at redwood city. could be down about five degrees in san jose, three degrees of some cooling. so here is the plan for tomorrow for mother's day. solid cloud cover tomorrow morning becoming partly sunny into the afternoon hours could be a bit of a breeze around 10 to 20 miles an hour, and temperatures eventually. we'll start out the day in the 50s on track to reach by 3:00. the 6070s and the 80s. here's a satellite where you can pick out the marine layer clouds just offshore, getting ready to push back into the bay for tonight. they'll be around first thing tomorrow morning. places like san francisco, oakland, hayward, up toward maybe san rafael as well. so temperatures tomorrow actually right now in the 50s to

the lower 60s and the wind reports not too bad. you can see in the single digits out toward concord in oakland, novato at about nine miles an hour. and some more reports for you with sfo at about 13 miles an hour in san jose winds out of the west at eight miles an hour. here is our live camera looking out toward sfo. you can see the airplanes there, and also you can see solid low cloud cover. so if you want to check out the northern lights once again you want to look up to the northern horizon. of course this cloud cover will get in the way, but the best viewing times will be between about 2:00 tomorrow morning and 5:00 tomorrow morning. so 2:00 to 5:00 tomorrow morning. if you get a chance, maybe just look up to the northern northern horizon and maybe get a get a nice show for you as far as overnight temperatures starting out the day with those readings, 50 partly cloudy skies, some areas of fog. you can see the forecast model showing you the coverage tomorrow morning here from san francisco to oakland, possibly in portions of marin county as well. and socked in closer to half moon bay and into the afternoon hours. the clouds will

clear back to near the shoreline, so we could still have some patchy fog for the coastline into the afternoon hours. partly sunny around around the bay and then more sunshine inland tomorrow afternoon, but we get a break from the 90s. we're just thinking some 80s for tomorrow afternoon. this area of high pressure still keeping us warm and dry, but we're seeing a change in the wind pattern, more of an onshore breeze that typically cools us off. and that will be the case for your sunday, with no major changes showing up in the forecast over the next several days. so minor, minor warming, minor warming trends, minor cooling trends showing up in the forecast for next week. highs for tomorrow will be in the mid 60s in san francisco. oakland, 71, vallejo, 80 degrees and some 80. as you do work your way inland. winds tomorrow, as we mentioned, could be around 15 to 25 miles an hour. so mother's day a little bit cooler, but still still fairly nice. and then as you can see into monday and tuesday, a little bit of a drop off in those numbers by monday and then we'll warm things up just a few degrees. these are all just some minor changes by tuesday, and

>> it's definitely an honor, just kind of coming back here, driving up the hill with the amount of memories that i have here and just kind of having all those little flashbacks when i was in high school. but no, i never i never experienced or expected anything of this nature. >> although heritage has only been open for 19 years, the patriots believe it's only right to make blackburn the first of many honored in the school's athletic history. his father, paul blackburn senior, says that since his son was four years old, baseball was all he wanted to do. seeing his son excel in high school, the minors and the major leagues, i asked him what was better seeing his jersey retired or playing in the 2022 all star game. >> i tell you, the all star game is pretty cool. that that was really cool. we had never been to dodger stadium before, so to go there and then he did well. got to pitch in the game and did well in the game. you know, that was that was pretty cool. >> before the fame and success, blackburn was already wowing coaches from the mound as a teenager. >> i'll go back to the tryouts.

the varsity coach at the time had me grading the pitchers and he we were just going through giving them like a grade and paul gets up on the mound and just throws gas and throwing strikes. and i'm like, knowing that i'm the freshman coach, what do i do here? do i kind of lie about how good he did? i kind of knew, right? right then and there he was something special. >> coach brennan was paul's head coach in high school. he says paul blackburn put heritage baseball on the map by opening up the gate for other players after him to sign with colleges and getting opportunities in the professional ranks. blackburn was drafted by the chicago cubs in 2012. the 56th overall pick, and he played for the seattle mariners. but in the last eight years he has been able to put on the green and gold and represent brentwood at the highest level, with this being the last season in the coliseum. here's his goal for the a's this season. >> give those those fans in oakland something something to kind of cheer about, you know, like it's going to definitely be
