"lots of bad publicity," daniels replied. necheles pressed on. "now you had a whole new fan base and were able to sell yourself?" "i just did the same job i always did," said daniels. trump's lawyer pointing out this candle daniels sells online --

stormy, saint of indictments -- asking her, "you're celebrating the indictment by selling things from your store, right?" "not unlike mr. trump," daniels replied. the former president has turned every twist and turn of his trials into a fund-raising opportunity. daniels made it clear she's more than happy to see trump on the ropes. her lawyer showing her this old tweet. "you are drinking champagne because you are celebrating that trump was indicted?" "yes," she replied as trump shook his head. but on redirect, prosecutors asked daniels, "have you been telling lies about mr. trump or the truth about mr. trump?" "the trust," she said. after seven hours on the witness stand, stormy daniels left the building. trump's lawyers once again asked for a mistrial, calling the porn star's testimony "extremely prejudicial." but judge juan merchan rejecting that request. "this is not a case about sex," argued defense attorney todd blanche. "the nda was entered. whether it happened or not has nothing to do with the charges in this case." trump's lawyer objected to daniels' detailed description of her alleged fling with trump. but prosecutor joshua steinglass
5:39 pm
insisted the details "corroborate that the sex happened." "you know who knew what happened in that room? mr. trump knew," steinglass said. "that was mr. trump's motive to silence this woman in 2016." judge merchan telling trump's lawyers, bottom line, "you denied that there was ever a sexual encounter between stormy daniels and the defendant. your denial puts the jury in a position to decide who they believe." >> david: so, let's bring back in aaron katersky at the courthouse again tonight. so, aaron, stormy daniels on the stand for seven hours over two days. you were there in the courtroom. i'm curious tonight. you were studying the jurors. how did they react? did they react at all? >> reporter: jury was captivated, david, as stormy daniels sparred with defense attorneys. the jury box became a tennis stadium. the jurors going back and forth between the attorney and the witness. there's no way to know how the jurors took in the more explicit details, and the defense said they were so prejudicial it warranted a mistrial. but the judge said, absolutely not, because donald trump denies having sex with stormy daniels,
